Living with integrity

Integrity is...

According to Wikipedia, it is:

Integrity is the quality of being honest and showing a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles and values. In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or earnestness of one's actions. Integrity can stand in opposition to hypocrisy.

According to Google, it is:

Integrity is the quality of being honest, trustworthy, and having strong moral principles. It's also the idea of living by one's values and doing the right thing, even when no one is looking.

According to Oxford, it is:

Dictionary Definitions from Oxford Languages

in·teg·ri·ty
/inˈteɡrədē/
noun

  1. the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness.
"he is known to be a man of integrity"

  2. the state of being whole and undivided.
"upholding territorial integrity and national sovereignty"

Then you could look up what it means to have integrity in the workplace, in the home, etc.

I once had an employee tell me that no one had integrity, really. That you may have it in one area of your life but it was impossible to have it in all areas. I suppose that this would be true given that we are human and we all make mistakes in life.

So does this mean that we don’t try?

I don’t think perfection is the aim, I think that choosing to live with integrity as a basis for how we choose to behave in the world is the goal. It’s a quality. So when we look at ourselves in the mirror at the end of every day we can do so with love and compassion knowing that every choice we made throughout the day was made with integrity to the best of our ability.

Wonder where our world would be today if this was the only goal for each of us every day?

Something to think about.

Something to act upon.

In Abundance,

Sue
